NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — Fire officials have yet to determine the cause of a fire that hit the Sugni Superstore in Kabacan town on Monday and destroyed an estimated P75 million in merchandise.

It took personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection six hours to put the fire out.

Senior Fire Inspector Jerry Reyes of the municipal BFP office said Tuesday they are still investigating the cause of the conflagration.

The Sugni Superstore, which also houses a restaurant, is located along the Cotabato-Davao Highway in the center of Kabacan town in North Cotabato province.

Reyes said the fire started on Monday morning, just as employees of the department store were arriving for work.
