MANILA, Philippines — Seven police officers in Cavite were relieved from their posts yesterday for sleeping while on duty, among other violations.
Senior Police Officer 1 Miguel Aquintely, community precinct commander in General Trias; PO2 Ahvegail Darang and PO1s Christian David and Mary Grace Teves of the Rosario police were found sleeping when Senior Superintendent William Segun, Cavite police director, made a surprise visit to the station.
PO2 Marife Flores and PO1 Lauren Lubigan were absent during the inspection while PO1 Mark Capili was found wearing an untidy and crumpled uniform.
“A pre-charge investigation will be conducted before they could be penalized,” Segun said in a text message.
“This will serve as warning to all police officers that they can be relieved anytime for not doing their job,” he added.– Emmanuel Tupas
