Bureau of Immigration arrests 4 fugitives
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit caught four foreign fugitives in separate operations over five days.
In a statement issued yesterday, the BI said its operatives arrested Americans Apollo Cioffi, 46, and William Schweizer, 32; and Koreans Oh Gwangrok, 48, and Park Seungjae, 44.
Cioffi, wanted by a San Francisco, California court for assault, was apprehended in Baguio City on March 1.
Schweizer was arrested in Mandaluyong City on March 4. He is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a court in Broward County, Florida on April 21, 2011 for felony battery by strangulation and battery.
Also on the same day, Oh was arrested in Malate, Manila. Oh is wanted in his native country for $48,000 fraud and embezzling a car valued at $41,000.
Park was caught in Mandlaluyong on March 5. He is wanted in Korea for allegedly smuggling 11 types forged currency, including a Federal Reserve Board bond worth $500,000.
