MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather, apart from isolated rains, will prevail across the country until weekend despite the entry of Typhoon Wutip into the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) today.

Wutip, which will be locally named Betty once inside the PAR, is unlikely to hit any part of country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 3 p.m. yesterday, PAGASA said the center of the typhoon was located 1,950 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

The typhoon packed winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 155 kph.

Wutip was forecast to move north-northwest.

PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said Wutip was expected to weaken into a low-pressure area once it enters the country.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the cold northeast monsoon is expected to prevail until the first week of March.
