Antonio Trillanes IV indicted anew on inciting to sedition charge
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was indicted by the Pasay City prosecutor’s office yesterday on the charge of inciting to sedition over a speech where he allegedly urged soldiers to kill President Duterte.
Investigating prosecutors found probable cause in the complaint filed by Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras stemming from Trillanes’ speech in the Senate on Sept. 5, 2018.
The prosecutors rejected his defense that his statements were covered by parliamentary immunity.
Another inciting to sedition case was filed against Trillanes by Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission commissioner Manuelito Luna for allegedly calling on soldiers to kill Duterte over his supposed ill-gotten wealth in a privilege speech in 2017.
