Jose Luis Yulo kin cooperating in ambush probe

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The family of businessman Jose Luis Yulo is cooperating in the investigation into the shooting that killed him and his driver in Mandaluyong City on Feb. 17, a police official said yesterday.

Yulo’s wife, Maria Carmen Launchengco, and his son Luis, 26, appeared at the office of Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran Jr., city police chief, and promised to turn over documents to the Special Investigation Task Group Yulo, which might  help solve the case.

“Probers are gathering the documents on Yulo’s business ventures, including the court cases he filed or were filed against him in court,” Villaceran said.

“The family also wanted to get to the bottom of the case to get justice,” he added.

Villaceran handed over to the businessman’s wife several keys police recovered from Yulo’s belongings so the family could open his offices that might contain documents, which could help in the investigation.

“I asked them if he received death threats prior to the killing, but they are not sure,” he said.

Chief Superintendent Bernabe Balba, director of the Eastern Police District, dismissed robbery as a possible motive since Yulo’s personal belongings were left intact by the assailants.

Yulo and his driver, Allan Santos, were killed by motorcycle-riding assailants who fired at their Toyota Grandia van. Their companion, Esmeralda Ignacio, was wounded in the attack.
