PILAR, Bataan, Philippines — A member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit was arrested in this city on Friday for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and explosives.
Senior Inspector Francis Jimenez, Pilar police chief, said a search on the house of Ronaldo Tangente, 33, yielded an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver, ammunition and a rifle grenade.
The suspect, a former New People’s Army rebel, is now with the 70th Infantry Battalion based in Laur, Nueva Ecija.
Police said the raid on Tangente’s house was based on a search warrant issued by a local court amid complaints from his neighbors that he fires his gun whenever he was drunk.
The suspect is also facing charges for violation of the election gun ban.
