John Unson - The Philippine Star

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines — Police and military personnel seized several firearms in a raid on the house of an alleged gunsmith of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Maguindanao yesterday.

Police said Abusana Abpun did not resist arrest when cornered in Barangay Poblacion, Buluan.

Three M4 Carbine rifles, an M1 Carbine, six 9mm pistols, a 12 gauge shotgun, a tripod for a caliber .50 machinegun and gun parts were recovered at the scene.

“Our informant showed us videos of the suspect while repairing a gun owned by a BIFF member,” Senior Superintendent James Gulmatico, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao director, said.

Gulmatico said Abpun supplied firearms not only to the BIFF, but other criminal gangs. – Michael Punongbayan
