MANILA, Philippines — Japan on Tuesday turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) P53.3 million worth of equipment for public safety and counterterrorism.
The equipment, granted through Japan’s Official Development Assistance, form part of the Japanese government’s continuing efforts to help upgrade the Philippines’ law enforcement capabilities.
Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda led the turnover of six bomb suits, six ballistics shields and 442 helmets to the PNP.
PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde thanked Japan for the assistance.
