NPA rebel arrested in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines — A New People’s Army rebel, who is facing murder and frustrated murder charges, was arrested in Norzagaray, Bulacan yesterday.

The military witheld the identity of the rebel, who has standing warrants of arrest issued in 2011. The suspect was collared in Barangay Bigte at around 10:30 a.m. 

 Personnel of the 7th and 9th Infantry Divisions (IDs), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Bulacan police launched the operation based on tips by villagers.

 Brig. Gen. Lenard Agustin, 7th ID acting commander, said they would continue to hunt down rebels with pending warrants even as he urged them to surrender to authorities. – Michael Punongbayan
