Fire hits rubber factory in Quezon City; 1 hurt
MANILA, Philippines — A firefighter was injured and an estimated P200,000 worth of property was destroyed when a fire broke out at a rubber factory in Quezon City at dawn yesterday.
Fire Officer 1 Obespado Janene was taken to the hospital for treatment of first degree burns, according to city fire marshal Senior Superintendent Jaime Ramirez.
Janene was among the firefighters who responded to the blaze, which struck the NSR Rubber Corp. in Barangay Baesa.
The fire started at past 4 a.m and reached the second alarm before it was declared under control at around 6:24 a.m.
Ramirez said the fire originated at the building’s stockroom.
Arson probers said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
