MANILA, Philippines — Three people were arrested in Quezon City yesterday for selling counterfeit rubber shoes intended for the officers and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The suspects were caught in an entrapment operation by personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group along Scout Gandia corner 11th Jamboree streets in Barangay Kamuning.

Mark Corporal, 33; Lorenzo Celestial, 25; and Rail Ramirez, 25, are facing charges for violating the intellectual property law.

The suspects were caught with 100 pairs of fake police athletic shoes worth P205,000 placed inside a Mitsubishi L300 van.

The operation stemmed from a complaint of the JP Group of Companies Inc.., one of three firms authorized to manufacture rubber shoes for the PNP.
