MANILA, Philippines — Political will is necessary to have progress in the country, particularly in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay, former special assistant to President Duterte Christopher “Bong” Go said Thursday.

“This is proof that the government is doing everything to make our country better. This is because of political will and the volunteers who wished to help,” he said in a statement.

He said President Duterte temporarily closed Boracay for cleanup and the island resort is now “clean and you can swim in clear waters.”

Go said Duterte is doing the same with Manila Bay.
