Gigi Reyes seeks pass for dental procedure

MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, the erstwhile chief of staff of former senator Juan Ponce Enrile, has asked the Sandiganbayan to allow her to leave her detention for a day to undergo a dental procedure.

In an urgent motion filed before the court’s Third Division, Reyes said she had been experiencing “acute pain” in her upper right first molar since Jan. 15 due to a fractured crown and asked to be allowed to visit her dentist Carlito Librando on Jan. 24.

Reyes said the Taguig City Jail Female Dormitory has no dental clinic and panoramic X-ray facility. She said she will shoulder all the expenses to be incurred by the government for her requested procedure.

Reyes is a co-accused of Enrile in plunder and graft cases in connection with the alleged misuse of the latter’s Priority Development Assistance Fund or pork barrel.
