MIAA honors security, intel personnel

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) awarded commendations to several intelligence and security personnel during yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony.

Roderick Mejia, Diomedes Roca II, Ismael Rivera, John Bernard Mendeja, Mark Leonard Arcilla and Dyron Candido were recognized for apprehending a passenger who hijacked a taxicab on Nov. 17, 2018.

Geoffrey John Camarauan and Saeed Qassim Lopez arrested alleged thief Roger Gagarin on Nov. 27, 2018 and recovered a clutch bag containing P250,000, five passports and plane tickets.

Jerico Kim Patriarca, Joey Barlaan, Edzel Biag, Jerrold Demegillo, Ada Marie Campos, Elino Potracion and Gerber Argales arrested Juvy Macalalad on Nov. 14, 2018 for allegedly swindling three overseas Filipino workers.

MIAA general manager Ed Monreal congratulated the awardees, saying their achievements are a “big service to our country.”
