Landslide kills 3 people in Legazpi City

Three people were reportedly killed Saturday after heavy rains triggered a deadly landslide in Legazpi City, Albay ahead of Tropical Depression Usman’s landfall.

MANILA, Philippines — Three people were reportedly killed Saturday after heavy rains triggered a deadly landslide in Legazpi City, Albay ahead of Tropical Depression Usman’s landfall.

According to a report by DZMM radio, a landslide happened at 2 a.m. in Barangay San Francisco in Legazpi City, burying a family's house.

The three dead bodies were reportedly retrieved at 4 a.m. Other family members survived but had injuries.

State weather forecasters said "Usman" made landfall over Borongan City, Eastern Samar early Saturday morning and weakened into a low pressure area.

Although storm warning signals have been lifted, the country’s weather bureau said moderate to heavy rains will prevail over CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region and Aurora.
