MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested after he set off a Molotov cocktail in front of the GMA annex building in Quezon City yesterday.
Security guards apprehended Lawrence Ebio, 36, after the petrol bomb exploded at around 11:40 a.m., according to Superintendent Louise Benjie Tremor, Quezon City Police District Station 10 commander.
There were no casualties during the incident. Seized from the suspect’s possession were three more petrol bombs.
An employee of the television network who witnessed the incident said Ebio first attempted to enter the GMA compound in November to file a complaint about illegal drugs.
“He was claiming that people involved in drugs were looking for him,” the employee said in a phone interview.
The suspect was brought to Station 10 for further investigation. He is facing charges of alarm and scandal and illegal possession of explosives.
