COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two minor Maute militants, who admitted they were tasked to bomb several targets in Central Mindanao recently, were turned over by their parents to the mayor of this city on Sunday.
Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, chairperson of the city peace and order council, presented the surrenderees to police and military officials.
The militants said their group was based in Lanao del Sur, but operating in Sarangani and General Santos. They said they were trained in bomb making in Sultan Kudarat.
Sources from Army intelligence units said the surrenderees admitted their links to the plotters of the bombing in Davao City in 2016 that left 17 people dead and 60 others wounded.
