Cloudy, rainy on Christmas

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area and the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains throughout the country on Christmas day, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
A low-pressure area, which was monitored at 275 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur yesterday, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorm over the Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Caraga and Northern Mindanao, the state weather bureau said in its Christmas weather outlook.
The trough of the weather system would bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over Mindoro and Palawan, Esperanza Cayanan, PAGASA weather division chief, said.
Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Calabarzon and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains because of the northeast monsoon, PAGASA said.
“The northeast monsoon will also affect extreme Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with light rains.... The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains and thunderstorms,” Cayanan said.
The rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.
