MANILA, Philippines — A suspected member of the Islamic State-inspired Maute terror group involved in the beheading of two sawmill workers in Lanao del Sur in April 2016 was arrested in Caloocan City on Wednesday.
Jomar Labay, also known as Jumar Ibrahim, was caught while on a tricycle in Barangay 176 at around 9 a.m., said Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Director Amador Corpus.
Teams from the CIDG Western Metro Manila and Joint Task Force National Capital Region (NCR) served six warrants of arrest against Labay for kidnapping and serious illegal detention with murder.
According to Corpus, Labay is one of the suspects in the beheading of two sawmill workers and the kidnapping of four other persons in Butig town on April 5.
The government put a bounty of P600,000 for Labay’s arrest.
Labay is detained in the CIDG-NCR headquarters at Camp Crame.
