30 held for illegal quarry in Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines — At least 30 persons, including three Chinese citizens, have been arrested for illegal quarry operations in Porac, Pampanga, according to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). 

Personnel of the NBI, Mines and Geosciences Bureau and Department of Environment and Natural Resources swooped down on two quarry sites in Barangay Manuali on Wednesday after indigenous communities complained on the operations of Clarete’s and Tag Mineral Resources Inc. in their ancestral domain. 

The raiding team seized various heavy equipment, machineries, tools and minerals amounting to P1 billion, NBI Director Dante Gierran said.
