Security officer cited for reporting condo slay
MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City police yesterday commended a security officer for reporting the killing of a Chinese woman at a condominium last month.
Senior Superintendent Rogelio Simon, city police chief, said security officer Walter Tornilla is worth emulating as he helped them solve the case.
“Tornilla’s action is a manifestation of his devotion to duty and continuous support to the Philippine National Police in its anti-criminality campaign as our force multiplier,” Simon said.
Wang Yalei’s friends are accused of killing her, chopping up her body, putting her remains in garbage bags and throwing them in the condominium’s garbage bin.
Simon said Tornilla checked security footage and instructed all security personnel to check all floors for bloodstains after a housekeeper alerted him about the garbage bags.
Probers said a love triangle is among the motives for the killing.
Zhang Chuning, Zhang Chu Quan, Wang Xue and Zhang Yi Xi were arrested for Wang’s murder.
The four Chinese are being held at the city police headquarters.
