Reds surrender in Sultan Kudarat, Agusan Sur
KORONADAL CITY, Philippines — Six members of the Guerrilla Front 73 of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered in Senator Ninoy Aquino town in Sultan Kudarat on Friday.
Col. Harold Cabunoc, 33rd Infantry Battalion (IB) commander, said the rebels led by an alias Loloy turned over a caliber .30 rifle, a caliber .45 pistol and three caliber .38 revolvers.
The surrenderees were presented to Mayor Randy Ecija Jr. and Col. Robert Dauz, First Mechanized Brigade commander.
In Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, three leaders of the Peacock Platoon of the NPA’s Guerilla Front 88 yielded to Army soldiers in San Luis.
Capt. Aldim Viernes, 401st IB civil-military operations officer, said the surrenderees also turned over an M16 rifle, an Armalite, a shotgun and various types of ammunition. – Ben Serrano
