P6.8-million shabu seized from ‘veggie vendors’

MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected drug dealers were arrested and P6.8 million worth of shabu were confiscated by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Quezon City yesterday.
Ernie Rodriguez, 44, and Teresa Matias, 60, were caught in a sting in Barangay E. Rodriguez at around 1:30 a.m. According to authorities, the suspects pose as vegetable vendors to avoid detection.
Director Joel Plaza, who heads PDEA’s National Capital Region office, said the suspects have been under surveillance for about a month after they received reports about the duo’s illegal activities.
The suspects allegedly yielded at least a kilo of shabu.
Police arrested 14 persons in Quezon City and 10 more in Marikina, Mandaluyong and Pasig for drug-related offenses over the past two days.
