New La Union-Baguio road opened
TUBAO, La Union, Philippines — A newly completed road connecting La Union and Baguio City was opened yesterday.
The 14.24-kilometer road, which includes the 360-meter Anduyan bridge, is worth P493.9 million.
Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said the road would lessen travel time from this town to Benguet and to Baguio City from more than two hours to only an hour.
Villar said the Anduyan bridge would benefit residents of Barangay Rizal and Alog East because they need not use rafts or boats to cross Aringay river.
The road will pass through the Asin Hotspring in Tuba, Benguet.
Villar said the project is expected to decongest traffic along Marcos Highway considering that Kennon Road remains closed to traffic.
He gave assurance that more infrastructure projects that would ensure the accessibility of tourism sites would be opened this year. – Artemio Dumlao, Evelyn Macairan
