MMDA hikes fine for yellow lane offenders
MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has increased the penalty for violators of the “yellow lane” policy along EDSA.
The agency raised from P200 to P1,000 the fine for city buses violating the policy, and P500 for owners of private cars, according to MMDA spokesperson and assistant secretary Celine Pialago.
Pialago said private cars, which comprised 80 to 90 percent of vehicles passing through EDSA should stay on their designated lanes.
Violators of the yellow lane policy are caught on surveillance cameras installed along the busiest highway in the metropolis.
