'Man-yi' may enter PAR Saturday; not expected to make landfall
MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Man-yi spotted off central Luzon is still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Friday.
As of 3 p.m., the eye of "Man-yi" was located 1,495 kilometers east of central Luzon.
The typhoon, which would carry the local name "Tomas" once it enters PAR — possibly on Saturday or Sunday — bears maximum sustained winds of 145 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 180 kph.
PAGASA said “Man-yi” continues to traverse northwest at 25 kph as it approaches the eastern boundary of PAR.
The state weather bureau said the typhoon has no direct effect on any part of the country at the moment, and is still not likely to make landfall.
Meanwhile, Visayas, Palawan and Occidental Mindoro will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
