'Samuel' slightly intensifies before exit as new storm approaches

MANILA, Philippines — As Tropical Depression Samuel is about to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday evening, a severe tropical storm is also likely to barrel toward the vicinity.

The cyclone slightly intensified as of Thursday morning, maintaining a maximum wind speed of up to 66 kilometers per hour near the center and a gustiness of up to 65 kph, according to an 11 a.m. bulletin of state weather bureau PAGASA.

The location of eye at around 10 a.m. was west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Samuel made landfall over Roxas, Palawan, at around 1 a.m. on Thursday hours before steps out of the country's vicinity.

Another storm coming

A several tropical storm with international name Man-Yi was spotted at around 8 am 1790 kilometers off the coast of Mindanao packing maximum sustained winds of 105 km/h, with a gustiness 135 km/h.

PAGASA said Man-Yi, may enter the Philippine area of responsibility Sunday or Monday evening.
