Fire leaves 126 families homeless in Pandacan

MANILA, Philippines — At least 126 families were left homeless after a fire razed their houses in Pandacan, Manila before dawn yesterday.

The fire, which started around 10 p.m. Friday, gutted the house of former Barangay Ilang-Ilang chairman Juanito Buan before spreading to 33 more houses along Ilang-Ilang street in Pandacan, according to arson investigator Senior Fire Officer 3 Sonny Lacuban.

The blaze, which reached third alarm, was put out five hours later or at around 3 a.m. yesterday.

Damage to property is estimated at P500,000. There were no injuries or fatalities reported from the fire.
