Pinay stabbed to death in Japan by ex-partner
MANILA, Philippines — A 48-year-old Filipina was fatally stabbed in Japan on Thursday, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The DFA yesterday expressed condolences to the family of the victim, who was identified by the Japanese media as Rowena Casimiro Haga.
Haga was allegedly stabbed by Yasumasa Yamaguchi, 45, at a restaurant in the coastal city of Hamamatsu before midnight on Thursday, Japan Times reported.
She died of stab wounds at a nearby hospital early Friday.
The report said Haga has previously complained to the police about Yamaguchi, supposedly a former partner who has stalked her.
The suspect was arrested hours after the incident.
Ambassador to Japan Jose Laurel V assured the family of the victim that all efforts are being exerted to ensure that justice is served.
On Twitter, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said the suspect is now in the custody of the “inexorable perfect Japanese criminal justice system.”
“May God have mercy on his soul because his body is now in the custody of the most efficient state in the world along with Singapore,” he wrote.
