MANILA, Philippines — The Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) is supporting the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Jesus Dureza said yesterday.
Dureza said Yusok Jikiri, MNLF central committee chairman, assured him during their meeting in Davao City last Monday that MNLF officials would conduct an information, education and communication campaign in their communities to ensure the ratification of the BOL in a plebiscite next year.
“The MNLF is committed to help the administration of President Duterte by supporting the BOL and campaigning for (its ratification),” Dureza quoted Jikiri as saying.
Dureza acknowledged the efforts of the MNLF to help the government generate a groundswell of support for the BOL.
He said the MNLF central committee during its general assembly in Indanan, Sulu last Oct. 7, issued a resolution declaring its unequivocal support for the BOL’s ratification and implementation.
“The MNLF under the leadership of... Jikiri has... been a reliable partner of the national government in sustaining the gains of peace in Mindanao,” Dureza said.
He said the BOL would not favor any particular group, noting that it is the embodiment of all agreements signed between the government and various Moro groups in Mindanao.
“The BOL’s main feature is its inclusiveness in which everyone is part of the peace and development process,” Dureza said.
