MANILA, Philippines — A policeman was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl, whose parents were apprehended in a drug sting in Sampaloc, Manila yesterday.
Police Officer 1 Eduardo Valencia of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 4 drug enforcement unit was nabbed by his colleagues at his house on Dimanlig street, San Nicolas in Pasig City.
Valencia’s arrest came after the girl’s relatives sought help from the authorities, according to MPD chief of directorial staff Senior Superintendent Danilo Macerin.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar went to the police station and berated Valencia.
Eleazar ordered the filing of criminal and administrative cases against the policeman.
Prior to this, Macerin said Valencia and his team swooped down on the house of the victim’s parents to serve a search warrant.
Police said the raiders arrested the girl’s parents for allegedly pushing drugs.
The victim and another 20-year-old woman were also taken by police for questioning, but were cleared for release.
Valencia reportedly offered to give the victim a ride home. But he drove to a hotel in Sta. Mesa where he allegedly raped the girl.
The policeman supposedly promised to release the girl’s parents in exchange for sex.
Probers said a medical examination showed there was laceration in the girl’s private parts, indicating that she was sexually abused.
Valencia denied raping the victim.
