Guns, grenade seized from vehicle at checkpoint

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines — A hand grenade and two .45-caliber pistols were seized from a vehicle pulled over at a military checkpoint in Barangay Nangka, Balo-i town in Lanao del Norte yesterday morning.

Lt. Col. Bernardo Taqueban of the 4th Mechanized Battalion said the grenade was found in the bag of a businesswoman identified as Saidoman Ossamah, 31, a resident of Tugaya town.

The driver of the vehicle, Amiladin Pacalna, said he was only hired for the trip.

The occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody for filing of charges.
