Ex-governor’s house robbed

BASCO, Batanes, Philippines — A thief broke into the house of a former governor and took away several expensive wristwatches here on Saturday night.

Former Batanes governor Vicente Gato and his wife Marlene were having dinner when the robbery occurred.

They said they heard their bedroom door shut and thought their son Flinton, who visits them regularly, had arrived.

When Flinton did not respond to their invitation to join them at the dinner table, Gato went to check the noise and found the room in disarray.
