Isabela exec faces raps over parking attendant’s slay
MANILA, Philippines — A provincial board member of Isabela was arrested by police after he allegedly killed a parking attendant in a road accident in Quezon City yesterday.
Ed Christopher Go, 29, is under police custody.
Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and violation of Republic Act 10586 or the Anti-Drunk Driving and Drugged Act would be filed against Go for the death of Celso Calacat, 50.
Superintendent Wilson delos Santos, head of the Quezon City Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit, said Go was reportedly drunk at the time of the accident.
According to witness Christian Salvador, Calacat was crossing the street when the victim was struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by Go along Tomas Morato Avenue in Barangay Sacred Heart.
Calacat was declared dead on arrival at the Capitol Medical Center from head and body injuries.
The suspect was taken to the hospital after he reportedly spit out blood, but police said Go would still undergo inquest proceedings.
Go, an ally of Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy, is reportedly eyeing to replace his mother, Ana Cristina Go as representative of the province’s second district in next year’s polls.
