Maguindanao town councilor held for guns

TACURONG CITY, Philippines — A councilor of Sultan sa Barongis town and his two companions were arrested for illegal possession of firearms earlier this week.

Councilor Norie Maulana Mamalo, Zam Kamal Musaiden and Reyno Silongan Lagawan were on their way to Tacurong City when their vehicle was pulled over at a police checkpoint.

Police said the suspects yielded a caliber .45 pistol and a 9mm, both without licenses.

The suspects are being held at the Tacurong police station.
