Ex-sexy star, convicted of drugs, released from jail
MANILA, Philippines — A former sexy star has been released from jail after she entered a plea bargain in her drug case before a Quezon City regional trial court almost two years since her arrest.
Sabrina M, real name Karen Palasigue, was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt on charges of illegal possession and sale of illegal drugs.
In a decision dated Sept. 18, Branch 85 Judge Luisitio Cortez gave the order for Palasigue’s release for time served, saying her sentence was to serve six months and one day for each charge.
Since she is a first-time offender, a simultaneous service of sentence is warranted, Cortez said.
Palasigue was also ordered to undergo six months of counseling upon reporting to the Quezon City Drug Abuse Council and to pay a fine of P10,000 each on the two charges.
Palasigue was arrested with two others after police were able to buy P6,000 worth of shabu from her at her house in Napocor Village in Barangay Pasong Tamo in September 2016.
Her two co-accused, Erwin San Martin and Edwin Coloma, have also filed a motion to allow them to plead guilty to a lower offense.
The former starlet was categorized as a mid-to-high value target and the first “celebrity” arrested by the Quezon City Police District for drugs.
