Tip leads soldiers to arms cache in Davao

MANILA, Philippines — The military revealed yesterday its discovery of an arms cache at Sitio Cabarisan, Barangay Sibulan, in Toril District, Davao City on Friday.

Among the weapons recovered were two M16 rifles, one AK47, an M653, one M203 grenade launcher, M203 ammunition, magazines with ammunition and two bandoleers.

First/Lt. Marcelo Amora, Civil Military Operations officer of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Battalion under the 7th Infantry Division, said they received the tip from a concerned citizen.

The cache was discovered a week after an encounter between government troops and New People’s Army rebels.
