MANILA, Philippines — The Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, which connects the cities of Makati and Mandaluyong, will be closed to traffic starting at 8 a.m. today for rehabilitation and repair.
Jojo Garcia, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager, said yesterday the Department of Public Works and Highways will start repairing the bridge as part of a grant from China. The repair will take 30 months.
The MMDA does not know what will happen tomorrow, when he expects that around 100,000 motorists will be affected by the bridge’s closure.
“All of the areas will be congested, especially EDSA, as the motorists coming from Makati and Mandaluyong will use it as an alternate route, and vice versa,” Garcia said.
