MANILA, Philippines — A septuagenarian man was arrested after he ran amuck, leaving two policemen and his neighbor injured in Mandaluyong City on Saturday.
Clarito Samadilla, 72, yielded a bloodied fan knife, Senior Superintendent Bernabe Balba, director of the Eastern Police District, said.
Balba ordered the filing of charges of attempted homicide, direct assault and illegal possession of a deadly weapon against Samadilla before the city prosecutor’s office.
Investigation showed that Samadilla and a neighbor, Marilyn Camar, 51, engaged in a heated argument at Block 38, Welfareville Compound in Barangay Addition Hills.
At the height of the confrontation, Samadilla allegedly pulled out a fan knife and attacked Camar.
Camar’s son, Adrian, 23, came to her defense and punched Samadilla in the face.
But the suspect stabbed Adrian in the arm.
Police Officers 1 Rodel Raganit and Benjamin Soriano, assigned with the Police Community Precinct 1, responded to the scene, but they were also attacked by Samadilla.
Although wounded, Raganit and Soriano overpowered and disarmed the suspect.
