MMDA: 4 roads closed for repair

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Four roads in the metropolis were closed to motorists last night to allow for repairs by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In an advisory, the MMDA said the southbound lane of EDSA along Scout Borromeo, North Avenue and Batasan Road in Quezon City as well as A.H. Lacson Avenue in Manila were temporarily closed.

The MMDA urged motorists to look for alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.

The road repairs are expected to be completed by Monday morning.

The DPWH has partially closed the southbound lane of the Tripa de Gallina Bridge in Pasay City to strengthen the 50-year-old structure and enable it to withstand a magnitude 8 earthquake.

The DPWH hopes to finish the repair by April next year.

The agency has allocated P25 million for the rehabilitation of the bridge. – Evelyn Macairan
