MANILA, Philippines — The search for a missing five-year-old girl ended after she was found dead at a computer shop in Port Area, Manila on Sunday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Rommel Anicete, head of the Manila Police District homicide unit, said they would conduct an autopsy on the victim to determine if she was raped.
Jerome Emberso, 28, who was tagged in the killing, was arrested in a follow-up operation on Monday.
Emberso claimed that he only punched the victim once in the stomach.
The suspect was seen in surveillance video leaving the computer shop where the girl was found lifeless.
Emberso admitted that he was high on drugs when the incident happened.
Police said they would file murder charges against the suspect before the city prosecutor’s office.
