MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized a package containing 14,720 tablets of the party drug ecstasy with a street value of P25 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Friday night.
The BOC arrested the person who claimed the package, identified as Joan Loteia Reynoso, 42, said Commissioner Isidro Lapeña.
The tablets were concealed in the central processing unit (CPU) of a desktop computer that arrived at the CMEC from France on Aug. 4.
Reynoso denied knowing the party drugs were hidden in the CPU, Lapeña said.
She reportedly carried a letter of authorization from consignee James Stanly. The package was sent by Roberto Stanly, officials said.
Reynoso and the ecstasy tablets were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-National Capital Region director Joel Plaza. – Evelyn Macairan
