Hold cops in Kian delos Santos slay accountable – CHR
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission om Human Rights (CHR) yesterday called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to hold accountable all policemen involved in the death of Grade 11 student Kian Loyd delos Santos last year.
The CHR noted that only three police officers are facing administrative and criminal complaints, with the rest reinstated or even promoted.
Among them were former Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Roberto Fajardo and Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, who have since been appointed as head of the Highway Patrol Group and the Bulacan police, respectively.
“We reiterate our call for the PNP to ensure full accountability of officers involved in all cases of drug-related deaths,” it said.
“We also ask the public to never be silent amidst the culture of impunity. Let us collectively resist any abuse, remember and honor the lives that were unnecessarily sacrificed, and demand for full and fast justice,” added the human rights body.
