MANILA, Philippines — Two housemaids were arrested for allegedly stealing P2.3 million worth of jewelry and wristwatches from their employer in Quezon City on Friday.
Baby Rea Villegas, 27, and Genelyn Dagangan, 22, tried to hide their act by pretending to be victims of a “Budol-Budol” gang, police said.
Superintendent Alex Alberto, commander of the Talipapa police station, said the suspects conspired in stealing the valuables of their employer, 46-year-old Hanifa Usudan, of Tierra Pura Subdivision in Barangay Culiat.
Police said the suspects took Usudan’s five Rolex wristwatches amounting to P1.5 million and other jewelry worth P900,000.
Villegas said a woman, who pretended to be her boss' secretary, informed her that Usudan had figured in an accident.
A security guard of the subdivision saw Villegas carrying the stolen items before boarding a taxi.
Villegas and Dagangan were nabbed in a follow-up operation.
Charges of qualified theft will be filed against Villegas and Dagangan, police said.
