MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday asked all alternative medicine practitioners to register their products before offering them to the public.
“The FDA is not a barrier against doctors or practitioners of alternative medicine or treatment and any herbal products they invent are most welcome. But the FDA is mandated to make sure that these products abide by regulations and are duly registered… to assure the safety, quality and efficacy of these products,” FDA regulatory enforcement unit chief Allen Bantolo said.
Bantolo said the FDA encourages health practitioners and researchers to develop and invent more herbal medicines for the treatment of various illnesses, including cancer.
The FDA issued a statement after its agents raided the Dr. Farrah Bunch Natural Medical Center in Victoria, Tarlac on July 27 and seized more than P800,000 worth of unregistered health products.
