MANILA, Philippines — The driver of the “crazy yellow Kia” who plowed through people and vehicles in Makati City in 2016 was arrested yesterday morning for possession of illegal drugs.
Jamie Camille Brojan, 29, of Mandaluyong City, was arrested after watchmen of Barangay Poblacion allegedly found a sachet of shabu and drug paraphernalia in her bag, Makati police chief Superintendent Rogelio Simon said.
Prior to Brojan’s arrest, she hailed a taxi driven by Alex Novilla in front of a bar in Taguig City before dawn yesterday. She then vomited and passed out in the vehicle, Simon said.
Novilla reported the incident to Barangay Poblacion watchmen. Brojan’s identity was then unknown.
The cabbie went back to the bar along with the watchmen in a bid to determine Brojan’s identity. The watchmen found Brojan’s bag, which she apparently left in the bar.
Brojan made the rounds online in 2016 in a 35-second video dubbed “crazy yellow Kia,” where she was seen violently reacting while being apprehended for a traffic violation in Rockwell.
Some security guards were seen hitting Brojan’s Kia Picanto while some used their motorcycles to block her way. She ran over the motorcycles.
A few minutes after the incident, Brojan surrendered to police but was freed after agreeing to shoulder the guards’ hospital bills and vehicle repair costs.
Makati Mayor Abby Binay ordered the police to file charges against her.
Brojan was reportedly arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for illegal possession of firearms in December 2006.
