2 robbery suspects slain in Manila
MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged shootout with police in Manila before dawn yesterday.
A team led by Senior Police Officer 2 Ruel Chu were patrolling the corner of Taft Avenue and Ayala Bridge when two robbery victims sought their assistance at around 1:35 a.m.
The victims gave descriptions of the robbers, who were riding a motorcycle and traveling toward Intramuros.
The police team spotted the robbers in Plaza Mexico and gave chase. The robbers allegedly shot at the lawmen, triggering a shootout.
Probers said the suspects, who remain unidentified, bore tattoos indicating they were members of the Commando and Sputnik jailhouse gangs.
Police recovered two revolvers, a .38 caliber and a .22 caliber; two sachets of shabu; a wallet and a cell phone.
