Bato dela Rosa to run for Davao del Sur governor
MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is running for governor of Davao del Sur, according to a report on news.abs-cbn.com yesterday.
Dela Rosa has reportedly transferred his voter’s registration to Sta. Cruz town in Davao del Sur.
“That is in preparation for the 2019 elections because the last instruction given to me by the President is for me to run as governor of Davao del Sur,” the report quoted Dela Rosa as saying.
Dela Rosa had earlier said he wants to run for a Senate post, but is leaving his fate to President Duterte.
The former Philippine National Police chief said he would heed the President’s order, noting that he is “hugely indebted” to him.
Dela Rosa said he would also give up his political plans if the President would ask him.
The BuCor chief was among the probable winners in the 2019 senatorial elections based on the latest survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
