Ramon Efren Lazaro - The Philippine Star

MALOLOS, Philippines — A suspected carjacker was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in this city on Sunday.

Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director, identified the fatality as Wugner Lopez, a resident of Barangay San Jose, San Fernando, Pampanga.

Bersaluna said Lopez and his unidentified companion took a Nissan Sentra GX (UVK-645) owned by Nelson Manansala in Barangay Sulipan, Apalit at around 8:30 p.m. and fled toward Calumpit, Bulacan.

Bersaluna said the suspects were forced to abandon the vehicle when its tires were shot out by responding police officers.

When cornered in Barangay Mojon, the suspects reportedly engaged police officers in a gunfight. Lopez’s companion managed to escape.
